Le Creuset 24 cm Bread Cocotte in Enamelled Cast Iron – Baker's Results at Home

The Le Creuset 24 cm Bread Cocotte in enamelled cast iron is the tool designed for those who want to achieve crusty-crust artisan loaves with a soft crumb directly at home, without compromising on professional baking quality. The dome lid traps and circulates steam, reproducing the effect of a professional steam oven, while the low base ensures uniform browning and impresses the three iconic Le Creuset rings. Capacity 1.6 litres, diameter 24 cm.

Enamelled Cast Iron by Le Creuset: Perfect Heat with Every Bake

Le Creuset enamelled cast iron is the material that made the brand famous over a century of tradition. Its high thermal mass distributes heat uniformly across the entire surface, eliminates cold spots and maintains constant temperature at low or medium heat — the ideal condition for nurturing your dough and achieving the perfect crumb. Your creations will stay warmer longer, from oven straight to table.

Cocotte Design Engineered for Bread

  • Dome lid: traps steam in the initial baking phase, promoting maximum rise and a thin, crispy crust impossible to achieve with an open tin.
  • Low base with three Le Creuset rings: the shape engineered for bread guarantees even browning and imprints the brand's signature mark on the bottom of your loaf.
  • Black Matt interior coating: the satin finish enhances browning performance and eases release of the baked loaf.
  • Heat-resistant knob to 260 °C: designed for a secure grip, even with oven gloves.
  • Large ergonomic handles: allow you to move the cocotte from stovetop to oven and straight to table, even when wearing oven gloves.

Versatility: From Bread to Roasting, From Freezer to Oven

The Le Creuset Bread Cocotte is not reserved for baking alone. Thanks to compatibility with all stovetops — including induction — and oven resistance up to 260 °C, it is also suitable for roasting meat and vegetables, baking oven desserts and savoury dishes. The temperature range spans -23 °C to 260 °C, making it suitable for freezer storage too.

First Use

Enjoy the unboxing moment of your new purchase! Make sure to remove all labels and packaging. Wash the cocotte in warm soapy water, rinse and dry thoroughly before first use. Always cook at low or medium heat to preserve the enamelled cast iron over time and achieve consistently excellent results.

Cleaning and Care of Enamelled Cast Iron

  • Allow the cocotte to cool completely before washing.
  • Remove residue from base and edges; for stubborn residue, soak for 15–20 minutes in warm soapy water.
  • Do not use aggressive detergents, abrasive sponges or metal brushes.
  • Dry thoroughly after washing and store in a dry place.
  • Casserole: cocottes with cast iron and phenolic handles are dishwasher safe; however, frequent use may dull the enamelled finish.
  • Lid: lids with stainless steel and phenolic knobs are dishwasher safe. Lids with gold, iridescent, copper and matte black knobs must be hand-washed to preserve their finish.
