Le Creuset Cocotte Evolution 18 cm in Enamelled Cast Iron — a Classic Nearly a Century Old

The Le Creuset Cocotte Evolution 18 cm is the enamelled cast iron casserole produced in France that has captivated cooks, chefs and cooking enthusiasts worldwide for nearly a century. With a capacity of 1.8 litres — ideal for 2–3 people — and dimensions of 25.4 × 19.3 × 13.4 cm (depth 8.1 cm), it is the inseparable ally for stews, roasts, soups and braises, compatible with all hob types including induction, and guaranteed for life.

Enamelled Cast Iron: Uniform Cooking and Heat That Lasts

Le Creuset enamelled cast iron retains and distributes heat homogeneously, keeping preparations hot longer even on the table. The sealing lid preserves steam and concentrates flavours, enhancing every recipe with extraordinary cooking results — from slow cooking on the hob to roasting in grill mode oven.

The thin internal enamelled layer simplifies cleaning and resists absorption of odours and stains, keeping the surface impeccable over time.

Ergonomic Design for Everyday Use Without Compromise

The large ergonomic handles allow you to move the cocotte from hob to table even with oven gloves, in complete safety. The heat-resistant knob up to 260°C guarantees a firm and safe grip in every situation.

The Cocotte Evolution is available in a wide colour range — among the distinctive features of the Le Creuset brand — to enrich the mise en place with a touch of recognisable style. Available also in other sizes to suit every domestic and professional kitchen need.

First Use, Cooking and Care

Before First Use

Remove labels and packaging. Wash the cocotte in warm soapy water, rinse and dry thoroughly before using.

Cooking Tips

  • Always use oven gloves when handling the hot cocotte.
  • Use only Le Creuset silicone, wood or heat-resistant plastic utensils. Do not use metal knives or utensils to avoid scratching the enamelled surface.
  • Choose the hob ring of the appropriate size for uniform cooking and to reduce the risk of damage, particularly on induction hobs.
  • Always prefer medium or low heat cooking: heat gradually for better flavours and cooking uniformity. If you need to raise the intensity, reduce it once the desired temperature is reached.
  • Do not slide the cocotte on glass surfaces: always lift it to move it.

Cleaning and Storage

  • Allow the cocotte to cool completely before cleaning.
  • For stubborn residue, soak in warm soapy water for 15–20 minutes.
  • Avoid harsh detergents, abrasive sponges or metal brushes.
  • Dry thoroughly and store in a dry place.
  • Casserole: dishwasher safe, but frequent use may dull the enamelled finish.
  • Lid with stainless steel or phenolic knob: dishwasher safe. Gold, iridescent, copper and black nickel knobs require hand washing.
